Review of Blade (1998) by Gary C — 14 May 2010
There's not a whole lot to this plot, but it's definitely got a solid story for this kind of movie. It's got some very entertaining action including gunfights, martial arts, and sword play.
And it is all very fun to watch and is well done. The graphics tend to be a bit dated at times, but the film doesn't rely on them, so they're easily over-looked. It kind of has this corny, bad-ass-lonely-hero feel to it and it really works.
It brings a more fun element to the movie. I'm not sure how I feel about the bad-guys being a group of midnight-club punk vampires (if you know of a more accurate term, let me know) because it makes it seem like some typical 90's movie, but it could have been more than that.
But at the same time, I can't really imagine it any other way. I think this is a really fun movie and if you're interested by just the idea of a dark, vampire, action movie, then you won't be disappointed with what you get.
