Review of Blade (1998) by Charlie J — 15 Feb 2010
I think this film has good strong action, a solid plot, and some excellent pacing. I like the visual appearance of the film, almost always very dark; when ever there is sunlight, it's always very harsh. Wesley Snipes was a good choice for Blade, bringing a certain intensity and anti-social feel to the character. I enjoyed that the plot elegantly weaved together the villain's "destroy the world" plot and Blade's personal issues, losing his mother and fighting against his own vampiric nature. I thought the balance between those story elements, along with the pacing of the plot, made this a solid comic-adaptation film.
PS Kris Kristofferson makes a great Whistler.
