Review of Blade (1998) by Alan W — 27 Dec 2010
One of the coolest Vampire Movies and one of the cooles Comic Book Characters Ever. The Story evolves around Blade, the Daywalker. A guy with all the Powers of the Vampires without there Weak Points. In the First Movie of the Franchise Blade wants to find the killer of his Mother and founds out that Deakon Frost wants to revive the Blood God of the Vampires.
The Story is quite good not new but well told. But at some points It's a bit dragged out. The Characters are fitting and Wesley Snipes is perfect for the Role of Blade. The Performances aren't a Masterpiece but they do their Jobs.
The Action is well made and good to look at. Sometimes it's quite Bloody like the Fights in the Temple. The Effects are sometimes good (Lightning, Explosion) and sometimes quite Bad (Frost's Blood Magic).
The Movie isn't really scary but has some good Dialog. Mainly between Blade and Whistler. All in all it's a good Comic Adaption and a good Start of a Franchise. Only Blade II is better than this One.
For Fans of Action and Vampire Movies this One is a must See.
