Review of Blade (1998) by David F — 12 Jul 2011
Wesley Snipes is a bad-ass kung-fu fighting vampire hunter in this silly adaptation of the Marvel comic. Beginning with a very literal bloodbath, the film suffers from a common malady - it takes itself much too seriously, and is almost totally devoid of humor.
Snipes is as two-dimensional a hero as you can get, so you never really care what happens to him. Stephen Dorff adds some interest as a strangely potty-mouthed nosferatu, but he can't save the show from being just a loud body count.
