Review of Blade (1998) by Aaron K — 03 Aug 2012
When reviewers moan and whine about its over-the-top action and its unbeleivable storyline, they must have completely missed the point. Its a comic-book superhero movie that is no more ridiculous than any other.
It is a PERFECT (And by far the very FIRST of the modern adaptations that worked) rendition of the half-vampire half-human vigilante that hunts down the evil Vampiric underworld. It is stylish, fast-paced and incredibly well directed.
Although the dialogue isn't going to win an oscar, there is plenty of visual styling to more than make up for it. If you ask for non-stop, all-out action... then that is exactly what you are going to get.
If you want Blade stomping all over Vampires in a dark urban backdrop of corruption and deceipt, then you are onto a winner here. Excellent movie!
