Review of Blade (1998) by Daniel V — 16 Apr 2015
Wesley Snipes is a badass. Passenger FIFTY - MOTHER FING - SEVEN. Blade was D-level hero in the Marvel Universe but he has such a cool story, how could you not make a movie out of it. Seriously. A vampire/human hybrid who has all of their powers and none of their weakness.
The Daywalker. Before Spider-Man, Before X-Men and WAAAAAY before The Avengers blew the door off, BLADE proved that you could make a good comic book movie that would appeal to people who do not read them.
No, it wasn't a massive hit like those two I just mentioned but it is a R-Rated D-Lister but Wesley was a big star at the time, even if his star had begun to wane a bit around this time. Stephen Dorff chews(Pun intended) the scenery as baddie Deacon Frost and we love him for it.
Story is a little light but that's ok, because the rest of the movie makes up for it enough to give you a good time. It also sets the stage for a far superior sequel.
