Review of Blacula (1972) by Kevin R — 03 Sep 2010
Who the hell would want a dead faggot?
Two African American lovers are sent to Europe to discuss the current issues with the slave trade. Once they arrive, they encounter an eccentric man named Dracula who kills the woman and turns the man into a vampire. The male returns to America as a vampire and begins searching for a woman with a similar soul to his departed lover.
?I?ve never seen a rat bite like that before.?
William Crain, director of Greenhouse, Joy Ride: An Auto Theft, Lifetime Contract, and Midnight Fear, delivers Blacula. The storyline for this picture is average and on par with other early 70s horror films. The action scenes were a bit disappointing and the acting was only mediocre. The cast includes William Marshall, Vonetta McGee, and Denise Nicholas.
?Two faggot interior decorators and a female cab driver Panthers??
Blacula recently aired on the MGM channel?s drive-in theatre Saturday nights. There has been an array of old Grindhouse pictures on this show. I had never seen this picture and found it moderately entertaining. It was not as good as I had hoped, and fairly cheesy, but a better than average picture overall. This is only worth seeing if you are a fan of the Grindhouse genre.
?That is the rudest nigger I?ve ever seen in my life.?
Grade? C+.
