Review of BlacKkKlansman (2018) by Steve P — 29 Aug 2018
I was really disappointed by this. The film is well enough acted and visually engaging-- we all love the 70s - but it's as subtle as a smack in the face.
Half of it is made up of speeches- one after the other. In the end it's dull, slow and preachy. Also, I'm no fan of Donald Trump but the parallels made here are a little absurd.
By the end this film felt like a documentary. There are far subtler and more effective ways of dealing with race in a movie. Get Out, is a case in point.
