Review of BlacKkKlansman (2018) by Sandy M — 13 Aug 2018
I don't read movie reviews before I see a movie because I always want to formulate my own opinion. Until today, I wanted "Black Panther" to win all of the movie awards. BP was technologically superior, the acting was exceptional, the storyline fascinating, the support of strong women truly gratifying, and the visual work stunning. However, today, I saw (for me) not only the best movie of the year but (for me) the most important film of 2018. Spike Lee's "BlacKkKlansman" is the best production of his movie career. It is provocative, uncomfortable, emotionally moving, educational, entertaining, profound, and outstanding. The intersection of the scenes between Jerome Turner (Harry Belafonte) and David Duke (Topher Grace) are spellbinding.
Given the current political climate, state of America, and the unfortunate fact that all lives do not seem to matter at this moment, there is no movie more relevant to our lives today. Spike Lee's vision is excellent and his film is remarkable. I commend him for his courage and brilliance. Kudos to John David Washington, Adam Driver, and Harry Belafonte. I highly recommend this movie to all who I know and love. If I don't know you or love you, then this is definitely a must-see movie for you. No matter who you are, what your values or your principles are, what philosophies you support, or what life choices you have made, this movie will speak volumes to you.
