Review of BlacKkKlansman (2018) by Jdx_Awesome — 22 Aug 2018
This movie is amazing. It a brilliant mix of comedy and misery, but the messed up twist is that it’s a true story. This movie was very hard to watch at points, and that just shows how well done those scenes are. I’ve never seen a movie that made me depressed for the direction of humanity and then immediately made me laugh so hard I cried. The acting is superb, the writing is just brilliant, and the cinematography is so creative and interesting, making a great scene out of one that otherwise would’ve been slow or even boring. The movie was incredibly preachy, but that plays to its strengths trumendously, helping to balance the comedy and the politics and misery. I adore this movie, and it’s definitely one of the best movies of the year (as of August 23, 2018).
Update: It’s me again, but this time, it’s May 6, 2019. I still like this movie, but upon further thought and a rewatch, I’m changing my score from a nine to a seven. As soon as it was nominated for Best Picture, I realized it’s really not amazing.
