Review of Blackhat (2015) by Jacob T — 09 Feb 2015
Well it's easy to understand why the ratings for this are so diverse. One can watch this movie, and the deciding factor for a rating would be the mood said person was in while watching it. Let me explain.
Michael Mann embraces the digital world, and at 72, he returns to direct a film starring Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth. And while everyone performed pretty well, the film suffered from some poor choices in the direction of the plot.
I'm not going to give anything away, but you've been warned. It's a bit slow, so if you're expecting an action scene every few minutes, you'll be sadly disappointed. It has some trademarks of Michael Mann, but in all honesty, it could have used some more work.
It's a nice thriller nonetheless, but for Mann standards, it's not his best movie.
