Somehow bland and overdramatic at the same time, Blackfish ruins a great topic for a documentary with excessive emotion and a poor focus on real evidence. The film leaves you thinking about its logical holes for the duration.

I care about killer whales no more now than I did before I saw the documentary, and that's where this misguided piece of cinema truly fails. This movie is lazy, unoriginal, and picks the argument of least resistance that we've all heard before: namely: SeaWorld is run by evil, greedy liars who own swimming pools of money and have beds made of orca skin.

Yawn. Decrying corporate titans isn't bold or unique at this point, it's pretentious and sometimes downright wrong. I hope some filmmaker out there will have the guts to play devil's advocate and DEFEND a large company like SeaWorld.

Now THAT would be entertaining.
