Review of Blackfish (2013) by James R — 17 Jan 2014
Its a rare thing for me to give a film (or documentary) a perfect rating. This is for many reasons, but frankly, its for outstanding achievement in all areas of the film making process. Editing has to be precise, the story arc has to align itself with the context of the situation, the film really has to make you not want to blink in anticipation of missing something.
Blackfish fits this criteria and even though it states its case against captured killer whales very plainly, it never once tried to make itself something it isn't. They say the first step in solving any problem is recognizing there is one, this film does exactly that.
Hands down a must-see.
