Review of Blackfish (2013) by Wade W — 30 Oct 2015
"Blackfish" leaves us haunted and maybe even angry; not to mention questioning the implemented scale of "worthiness" when it comes to animal rights. The documentary gives viewers a clear sense of the Orca as deeply intelligent and highly emotional.
Indeed, this creature is capable of acts of rage and quite simply, murder on the heels of psychological suppression and physical enslavement. But what truly makes this film memorable and wildly important is its glimpse into the keyhole of a colossal candy-coated coverup: This is a film that unlike any other, puts on full display the darker side of humankind: greed, ignorance, and folly that kills.
A rare film that holds a mirror to the masses; if you do not get chills watching this, check your pulse.
