Review of Blackfish (2013) by Kevin S — 05 Jan 2016
This was a good documentary that made you feel bad for the orca whales that have been captured by sea world and other companies that capture them. It showed sad scenes of whales actually getting captured from where they live and they interviewed someone who used to do it and even he said what they were doing was wrong and the companies lied to him to make it seem like it was right.
They it showed how isolated and lonely the whales were and I think it said for 2/3rds of there life they spend in these cages in the water alone. Also when the whales were together they took there anger out on each other and fought and it showed many images of whales all cut up and even bloody.
They did a good job with finding people to interview because a lot of the people were former seas world employees or experts on whales and the employees kind of exploited sea world for lying and doing all this other bad stuff.
The saddest part of the movie in my opinion was when it showed sea world taking a baby whale from its mom and it showed the mom screaming and it got really depressed so just hid in the corner and it was a pretty depressing scene.
At the end it showed how sea world blamed an employee for her own death and they didn't even take blame for It when it was there fault. This movie had a lot of facts on the people who died from these whales who were taken from there homes.
And I think it did a good job at proving that orca whales aren't bad creatures the only reason they kill is because they are angry they got taken from their society or are frustrated that they get not enough food or get harmed by the other whales.
Overall this documentary was good and pretty sad and coming into it I didn't know too much about whales but they teach you a lot and they do a very good job at showing how sea world is a corrupt place and bad for stealing the whales from there natural habitats .
