I usually hate teacher movies, but this film has little of the contrived inspirational garbage found in most teacher films. Gritty, realistic, and way ahead of its team - deals with issues that were largely ignored in most Hollywood films of this era.
The first movie to use a rock song also pushed the boundaries in a lot of other areas.
