Review of Black Water (2008) by Samuel D — 02 Jul 2009
Similar to movies like Open Water in the sense that it relies almost entirely on suspense, rather than out-an-out action sequences. Not a bad cast, with decent Australian talent in this Australian movie about a pair of sisters and one of their boyfriends stranded in mangrove swamps of Northern Australia with nothing but a crocodile for company.
Plays upon a universal fear of being stuck in the middle of nowhere with dangerous animals viewing you as dinner. Australia must be the most dangerous country in the world with all its killer creatures.
Decent, but by no means brilliant. Its a B movie and should be treated as such. Enjoyable for what it is and keeps a nice level of suspense throughout.
