Portman's performance is a wonderful piece of acting, worthy of all the awards it earned. Also note worthy is the direction, screenwriting, and the performance from supporting actress Mila Kunis, and the overall film comes off as almost terrifying as we see the main character transform into a Black Swan.
Not literally.
