Review of Black Swan (2010) by Tyler G — 22 Dec 2013
Darren Aronofsky's confident and strong direction mixed with Natalie Portman's fierce and raw portrayal of a woman who's one goal is just be "perfect" makes Black Swan worth seeing alone.
On a sub-level, with creative cinematography and a script that walks a thin line between horror flick and psychological thriller well, plus great as usual acting from Vincent Cassel and a surprise excellent turn for Mila Kunis , this film fires on all cylinders loudly.
The score is both creepy and necessary for a tone the film was going for. This could be considered a companion piece to Darren's last film, The Wrestler. Alot of the themes are brought back and some were slightly changed, some stayed the same.
Even some of the scenes themselves were mirrored from the Wrestler in this one. Nonetheless, this film hit its mark and it hit it well.
