Review of Black Swan (2010) by Caoimhe C — 12 Apr 2014
Basically beyond reproach- Black Swan is a master class of psychological horror & melodrama. My original viewing was with my family on Christmas in 2010...you can guess how that went. In reality, though, this is a bold film pulled along by confident, meticulous direction, shocking/intricate imagery, and an incredible lead performance.
In fact, her character arc is one of the most extreme yet believable in cinematic history, cementing Portman as an actress of the very highest caliber, and perhaps the best of her generation.
