Anyone who enters this film believing it to be a 'feminine film' will be proven dead wrong. "Black Swan" is one of those films that successfully dives into the tragedy of schizophrenia as well as the harshness that is the world of ballet.

With Portman constantly being told to be perfect, her mental state slowly deteriorates into a truly haunting persona that is the Swan Queen. Aronofsky's attention to the subtleties that make this a truly haunting tale is the closest I have seen to a true Kubrick-ian film since Kubrick's passing.

That is what horror and suspense is to me. It's not about jump-scares and gore. It's about the build up of tension and the little details. A film that needs to be watched more than once.
