Review of Black Swan (2010) by David L — 22 Sep 2015
One of the weirdest films of the decade, Black Swan largely depends on Natalie Portman and she thankfully gave a powerhouse performance deserving all of the accolades she won, but the direction from Aronofsky is also quite impressive and the cinematography and score are refined.
Its story has problems mainly the extremely exaggerated look at the dancers plus too many characters are aggressive or just plain repulsive (Vincent Cassel's character in particular), but the wonderful acting, strong direction and many genuinely creepy moments make it a very good, if flawed thriller film.
