Let Black Swan be part of my testament claiming that originality has never been an issue for me regarding modern cinema appreciation. I thank Aronofsky's redeeming after The Fountain with a brave mind-challenging ride. Merging all of the aspects I mentioned up there into one single feature was an extremely ambitious directorial goal, given that every single film listed above tackled each topic it treated separately in a superior way. Still, Aronofsky proved himself to have the required talent to push mainstream boundaries slightly beyond their limits, and hence the high score... His ambition was not severely penalized, and I am frankly surprised of that. The main reason this happened is because he offered an already necessary piece of evidence demonstrating that psychological horror is one of the most effective horror sources regardless of the era.
Perfection can come at the highest price.
