Review of Black Snake Moan (2006) by Austin A — 24 Nov 2011
If only more movies were this unconventional. Hopefully, you're able to look past some of the elements that bring it down (unlikely premise, rushed ending, pulp-y atmosphere) to appreciate what happens here.
I can say with certainty that this is one of Samuel L. Jackson's finest roles of his career, and this modern incarnation of The Good Samaritan is ripe with intensity. Also, a killer blues soundtrack--you just can't help but feel it.
