Review of Black Snake Moan (2006) by Walter E — 06 Dec 2011
There were several plot elements that fail to be addressed or are underdeveloped. For instance, the loud noises that trigger flashbacks for our star crossed lovers was an empty twist that did not really foreshadow anything and went seemingly unresolved in both.
However, the stylized deep south portrayals by Samuel L. Jackson and Christina Ricci were magnetic. The underlying racial tension drew sympathy towards a very eccentric and old school man that might otherwise be difficult to sympathize with.
