Review of Black Sheep (2006) by Becca P — 25 Jul 2009
Gross out horror comedy that is similar to Peter Jackson's early films like Dead-Alive. It is hard not to try to like a movie about genetically engineered man-eating sheep and weresheep, but it really is just average.
The film is also set in New Zealand (like Jackson's films and has decent special effects provided by the company that did the effects for Lord of the Rings. There are some laughs but also a lot of laughs that fall flat.
This film could have been so much more but often the filmmaker went for the easy laugh. The story is pretty convoluted and the horror unsuccessfully tries to take over occassionally when it should have remained tongue & cheek.
