Review of Black Sheep (2006) by Ian B — 19 Nov 2011
A weird little horror/comedy from New Zealand in the vein of Peter Jackson's Dead Alive. As the title suggests, the film is about....killer sheep. Now before you roll your eyes, you've gotta know this isn't a movie to be taken seriously .
...and is probably best enjoyed after a few beers or bong hits. Black Sheep also has the honor of being of the nastiest, goriest horror flicks I've seen in a while. Some of the acting is pretty weak, not all the jokes work and it does take a while for the film to get going, but once those killer sheep start chewing on people's intestines you'll be pissing yourself (well, if you have a fucked up sense of humor like me).
Also, don't be fooled by the crappy DVD cover because this isn't a cheap looking movie. Infact it's one of the more beautifully shot indie films I've seen, taking full advantage of the great New Zealand scenery.
And of course it's got killer mutant zombie sheep puppets! If your in the mood for a gory horror/comedy, give this little movie a look.
