This is a very emotional film. Brilliant performances from everybody (although Jude Laws Scottish accent was a bit unnecessary). The film shows the devastation of unemployment perfectly. The directing is superb.

Kevin Macdonald masters the claustrophobia of a submarine. It is one of my favourite films of the year. The film is gripping and emotionally draining for the majority of it. I think the story was a great idea and definitely worth showing.

The characters are likable and as they perish you do feel slightly sad. Grigoriy Dobrygin, Ben Mendelsohn and Bpbby Schofield were tremendous. Jude Law was compelling as usual. There wasn't a bad performance from anybody, the casting is perfect.

The acting deserves recognition. As the number of men on board decreases, the pressure and greed rises.
