Review:

I quite enjoyed this film because it was full of intense drama and the storyline was quite good. It's about an out of work submarine captain who finds out about some gold that is at the bottom of the black sea so he goes to a rich man so he had fund his mission to find the hidden treasure. After gathering a crew who are also out of work, they set out to the bottom of the black sea to find the sunken submarine, but greed plagues the mission and causes trouble between the crew which makes the straight forward mission, harder that it seems. There are some twists in the storyline which were well put together by the director and the whole intensity of the film made it enjoyable from beginning to end. If it wasn't for greed and the lose of faith for the captain, the whole crew could have easily reached there destination as wealthy men but some of the crew members thought that they were superior to others and that they deserved a bigger cut of the loot. Anyway, the acting from Law and his crew was very realistic, especially as they were stuck on a submarine for most of the movie and the various directions that the storyline takes, kept it fresh and full of drama. I also like the heroic ending and the way that the crew bonded, once they had settled there differences, but its such a shame that so much pf them ended up at he bottom pf the sea. Although the film flopped at the box office, I personally enjoyed it for it's originality and intensity but it's not the type of movie that you can watch time and time again. Watchable!

Round-Up:

For some unknown reason, this movie didn't do that well at the box office, which is strange for a Jude Law film, but I doubt that it will hurt his reputation. With another Sherlock Holmes movie in the pipeline along with the Knights Of The Round Table, I'm sure that he will be back to his usual massive profits after there release. I really liked Ben Mendelsohn in this movie, even though he caused most of the problems between the crew, but it's really Jude Law who stood out from the rest. It's always hard to make a movie that is based on a submarine because they haven't got anywhere to go so you really have to rely on a good storyline to keep the movie interesting. You also can't add any new characters during the film, which is why I thing that the director done a decent job with this film. The small gross at the box office might be due to the fact that Jude Law is the only big name in the film or because it didn't get the big distribution cash injection from the studio but it's still worth a watch, especially as there is a lack of originality coming from Hollywood nowadays.

Budget: N/A.

Worldwide Gross: $1.1million.

I recommend this movie to people who are into their intense submarine dramas about a crew who hunt for hidden treasure at the bottom of the black sea. 6/10.
