Review of Black Sea (2009) by Michael M — 14 Aug 2016
This is one film I'm grateful the trailer undersold because it delivers - quite grippingly. A tale of a similar thread to "The ecstasy of gold" inspired-films like (The good, the bad& the ugly) also surprisingly does a good job of showing what the human condition is capable of when driven and blinded by greed and circumstance.
Jude Law does a commanding job as a submarine captain with a mixed crew on a wild goose chase for hidden gold from WW2 buried beneath The Georgian Black Sea. Though lengthy, and sometimes predictable (i dont how it could have been better executed ) considering the subject matter in question, the film comes together beautifully and definitely an interesting watch sailor or not.
3.7/5. If you liked "Into the heart of the Sea" you will definitely like this...maybe even more.
