Review of Black Panther (2018) by Nat F — 11 May 2018
Pros: Having a nearly all black cast is fantastic.
Cons:
1) The "bad" guy was far too REDEEMABLE to be killed off. He hated injustice, saw his Father murdered, was likeable and attractive, and wanted to end slavery (albeit with violence) yet he gets treated like every other villain in every film. Blah how clichéd. If the script writers tried to be more creative and not write what every single person can guess would happen it make for an amazing story. For example - make characters more nuanced and actually assume your audience has a brain.
2) Give me one good reason for Martin Freeman with an American accent being a good hire for this movie and I'll give it 5 stars.
Final thoughts: The guy in the mountains with the Ape call was the best scene because it was funny. The whole film had so much amazing potential but the writers really did not give the actually solid Actors a story worth sharing that we haven't already seen before 1000 times.
