Review of Black Panther (2018) by Ju99L3R — 16 Feb 2018

Black Panther was an awesome movie in general. Built out the character more than was expected, as in introducing some back story to him, and expending on a piece of the Marvel Universe that many people wouldn't know about.

But ultimately in the hype and general build up towards it's release, it does fail in living up to the character that should have been shown. Without going into too many spoilers, as a King of a nation, genius, enterpeturer and all round good guy, one would expect that a person of this calibre, who has shown foreigners in the past and present much respect and forgiveness, who has shown general wisdom throughout the Marvel plot line, would actually shown their own citizens more respect and thoughtfulness.

The story does seem to meter out after the first half boiling down to a generic "The sins of the father are to be laid upon the children" fiasco, while being somewhat good, it does become too clean cut.

Also in my own preference, there should have been scenes in the "language" of Wakanda in the movie throughout, not just when a change of country occurred or they didn't feel like speaking the native language within the Capital of their own city, this did break the authenticity of the narrative to a degree.

It's another feather in the cap of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, do with it as you like.
