Review of Black Panther (2018) by Axet — 18 Feb 2018
Not only should you not believe the oh so typical but in this case much amplified over-hype (via affirmative action agenda) for this run of the mill Marvel latest, but probably not waste your time bothering to sit through it.
Yes it cleverly devises an elaborately imagined world set in Africa (apparently just as the original comic book source material conceived in the 1960's) and the big showcase cast is exciting and good, but no it is NOT this great unlike anything you've seen before breakthrough for the genre (besides certain race prominence) nor some unusually for the genre pronounced message movie since every superhero flick for decades has always made some kind of overt save the world through peace and tolerance statement (foolish idiot critics, you've got to be kidding if you are that outright socially biased and forgetful of all that came before?!); while this particular film IS right in step with the by the numbers overly formulaic Marvel output in recent years yet has some surprisingly poor visual effects (what you get when you hire an inexperienced director for this realm in favor of diversity quota) and hard to understand silly jokey dialogue that all drags on and on in an expectedly over-the-top overlong bore.
