Review of Black Narcissus (1947) by Matthew R — 02 Jun 2007
Though the Powell and Pressburger team are much better known for their masterpiece The Red Shoes, this film was just as innovative in its use of technicolor and its bold storyline about the sexual tensions of several missionary nuns in the Himalayas.
Deborah Kerr is phenonenal in the lead and the climax, so to speak, is one of the most shocking and powerful in the cinema. A masterpiece through and through.
