Review of Black Narcissus (1947) by Joel G — 24 Sep 2007
The more I see of Powell and Pressburger, the more I adore them. This, so far, is my favourite. The story is delicious, all those nuns cooped-up in a Himalayan brothel perched upon a cliff, trying to deny their earth-bound desires.
Yowzuh! This film seems to me to come to its conclusion before I can catch my breath; a stunning, breathless and beautiful film. Can't get enough of it.
