Review of Black Narcissus (1947) by David B — 12 Jul 2009
Absolutely magnificent. A group of nuns (the epitome of British repression) attempt to establish a convent in the Himalayas, but are seduced by the sensuality of their surroundings. Beautifully shot by Jack Cardiff, this is one of the Archers' best.
I have no idea why Kathleen Byron did not become a star after this.
