Review of Black Narcissus (1947) by Ben W — 04 Sep 2009
Filmed beautifully, this is not much more than an imperial british melodrama which is immediately off-putting to me. but such is pretty much everything ive seen from powell and pressburger. the colors are lush and the art direction is impressive, deborah kerr is her usual, lovely self, but the film itself seems to be so consumed with its visuals and over the top story to really develop any real depth.
