Review of Black Narcissus (1947) by Christopher P — 14 Nov 2010
Thematically, Black Narcissus has not aged particularly well, and its treatment of the peoples of Nepal will seem tone-deaf and even racist to a contemporary audience. But the reason to see this is for the amazing sets (the film was shot in London, but you won't believe it when you see it) and the awe-inspiring cinematography.
There is scene upon scene upon scene to make you weep with sheer beauty.
