Review of Black Mass (2015) by Madeleine B — 06 Dec 2015
Right from the start the film is surprisingly dark and intense, staying this way 'til the end. Still, I could never quite shake the feeling that it somehow lacks focus. I know its lack of a clear main protagonist and/or antagonist is to signify that the core characters - no matter their allegiance or side - are all morally reprehensible, and I mean I don't think the film ever really loses focus despite some scenes maybe not being all that crucial. In any case, the film is still for the most part a well-crafted and well-acted piece of work.
8-/10.
