BLACK MASS-2015(R)-Oct. 10.

By:The Movie Guy.

Black Mass is the disturbing true story of one of the most notorious gangsters in U.S. history. Johnny Depp, in a chilling performance, portrays James "Whitey" Bulger who during the 1970s & 1980s was supposedly an informant for the FBI in their effort to take down the Angiulo crime family. But what the FBI doesn't know is that Jimmy's childhood friend, FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) is funneling only the information that will benefit Bulger. With the FBI taking down the Angiulo mob, Bulger is able to take full control of the south side of Boston continuing to distribute drugs among other nefarious dealing & to brutally retaliate against anyone who gets in his way. Bulger essentially has free reign. The movie is based on the best-selling novel "Black Mass: Whitey Bulger, the FBI, and a Devil's Deal" by Dick Lehr & Gerard O'Neill. Directed by Scott Cooper from a screenplay written by Mark Mallouk & Jez Butterworth, Black Mass is the unsettling account of the rise to power of a ruthless criminal. Black Mass also features Benedict Cumberbatch as Whitey's brother, Senator Billy Bulger, Kevin Bacon as FBI captain Charles McGuire, Adam Scott as FBI agent Robert Fritzpatrick, Dakota Johnson as Whitey's girlfriend Lindsey Cyr, & Juno Temple as Deborah, Steve Flemmi's (Rory Cochrane) stepdaughter. The performances from the cast were gritty & very well done. SEE THIS FILM.
