Review of Black Mass (2015) by Nicolò G — 21 Jan 2016
I was extremely excited for this flick, but boy, did it not deliver. Johnny Depp is the only good thing about this movie and even his makeup wasn't very good. It was riddled with generic plot and a lot of procedural stuff.
It never had a consistant storyline you know, where you get from Exposition to Rising action to Climax to falling action, to Resolution. It was very one-note. Jesse Plemons was not very good and he had a crappy wig and everytime he was on screen, it was like they're tryingto point out that he was there and he saw this or talked about that.
Joel Edgerton did not fit his part and we did not see enough of him. Kevin Bacon and Benedict Cumberpatch were terrific in their roles. Overall, I was expecting an epic Wolf of Wall Street, but with gangster movie and what I got was an extended episode of a History Channel Documentary.
