I agree with the critical reviews of this movie. I had one book so I had context. I admit it dragged, but I can't put my finger on how it could have been better, other than that the horror/gravity didn't 'build', the whole movie permeated with the "low affect" portrayal of Jimmy.
Maybe they tried to cover too much? I keep comparing it to the "Godfather" which is extraordinary. Maybe its the deep discomfort everyone has with Bulger's utter lack of remorse?
