Review of Black Mass (2015) by Ralfbergs — 13 Dec 2015
While the acting from Johnny Depp doesn't disappoint in this movie, the whole story kind of lacks something. I have seen many similar type movies and usually they are a bit more interesting. Here it just shows Depp's character Bulger being out of Alcatraz and doing some killings (to show audience that he is feared of) and eventually he makes a deal with FBI with one of his friends, that he helps bring down Italian mafia in the town.
Meanwhile it helps his own gang and they take control of whole city. All of the middle of the movie is about him being intimidating and killing someone for different reasons, until FBI top guys understand what has happened and eventually catch everyone and put them in jail, including the guy from FBI.
Ok, the story matches stories from other movies which isn't that shocking and as it was based on real life events, as I understand, then it's ok, but they should have at least made the middle a bit more interesting and different.
The movie is watchable but lacks something to make it worth remembering.
