Review of Black Mass (2015) by Matthew H — 31 Jan 2016
In a movie that could've lost my interest at any given time due to lazy writing, grueling pace, and questionable direction the acting keeps your eyes glued to the screen. Joel Edgerton nearly steals the show.
Cumberbatch is his usual self providing a very strong performance. All that being said, this film is Johnny Depps despite the horrendous makeup job. He reminds us why he's so adored by being hauntingly charming throughout and kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what he would do next.
Enjoyable film that I will see again.
