It's clearly the Johnny Depp show here, he makes you twitch in anticipation every time he's on the screen, but in some ways it's Edgerton's show too. He plays someone who's in too deep to perfection and makes a great double act with Depp.
The movie itself is compelling and intense without ever peaking, and is highly watchable.
