Review of Black Mass (2015) by Nick R — 24 Aug 2016
If someone asked me what I thought of "Black Mass," I would say, "It was alright." It is nothing special. Johnny Depp shows that he can act. His portrayal of James "Whitey" Bulger is terrifying.
As the movie continues, Bulger loses any humanity he previously had. Also, the film is not just a film about "Whitey" Bulger. The film is actually about the relationship Bulger had with FBI Agent John Connolly, which is played by Joel Edgerton.
Perhaps, the film focuses too much on their relationship. By the end, I wondered how a film with several good actors could be that uneventful.
