Review of Black Ice (2013) by Matt M — 18 Sep 2013
An impressive independent Irish production by Johnny Gogan who audaciously takes on the coming of age drama genre by using the often commercialised gimmick of speed racing. Black Ice is very gritty and very dark and while it suffers from the occasional dead moments it is full of sensibility for its characters' genuine emotions and feels like a realistic representation of a rebellious, disenchanted and ramshackle youth.
