Review of Black Hawk Down (2001) by Moore S — 01 Jan 2011
The actors.. no, the actors' names is the only thing that is worth watching this movie. Black Hawk Down a.k.a. Counter Strike The Movie is a 2 and a half hour film, 2 hours of which are just the shootings and explosions. I guess for video games fans it's quite intriguing and I dare some smartass to comment that it was based on true events. Americans put their noses in each hole in the world, get fucked or get others fucked and either way then they make movies about it.
There are so many known actors that it's not even funny, but there's barely any room for them in the movie. Maybe when the bunch of the soldiers don't manage to get in the jeep in the end of the movie and are forced to run, it becoms a metaphor to the excessive number of known actors. I was mostly excited to see Tom Hardy and Ewan McGregor in this movie, instead I got the-always-worried Josh Hartnett and not-giving-a-fuck-about-anything Eric Bana. And for fuck sakes, half of the actors in this movie are not even American. Most of the important characters are played by British actors.
