Review of Black Hawk Down (2001) by Selva K — 06 May 2011
A hard-hitting, mature war movie. It not only deals with explosions and bloodstains but also traverses through every individual's emotions on how a war is perceived. This true event is about the 'usual' US-intervention in some civil war down the east, to put down an arrogant warlord and to restore order and peace. And the U.S troops show up a valiant attempt to hold the nation's capital overnight against the hostile local militia. The film ends with a sad note that 'only the dead have seen the end of war'. Technically, it's superior to any other war movie I've seen, for its closer-to-life cinematography, editing and sharp visual effects.
Bottomline: 'Black Hawk Down' will blow you down.. full-5 !
