Whenever it comes to war epics, I prefer the ancient period stuffs than the modern warfare. I am just a huge fan of Swords! so I care least for the guns and explosions. However, Black Hawk Down is a clearly balanced thriller with great technical side, elevated by superb direction from Ridley Scott and of course the battle sequences. It starts of well, but it is not that good as Saving Private Ryan, or more likely I must say that SPR is slightly better than this one, nor it is emotionally or culturally involving as Tears Of The Sun (2003).
